Sunday in Le Mans - Norbert Kiss secures his fifth title with five races to spare

24. September 2023Le Mans - His win in Sunday’s first heat crowned Kiss European champion for 2023 at Circuit Bugatti in Le Mans.
The defending champ, starting from pole, was beaten in the start sprint by Sascha Lenz, but overpowered his MAN colleague a lap later to take the lead – and, presently, the race win and the title. Jochen Hahn joined the two on the podium. He was followed across the line by Antonio Albacete, Jamie Anderson, Steffi Halm, André Kursim, Luis Recuenco, Steffen Faas, and John Newell.
The final race had Spanish Iveco pilot Recuenco in pole position. The first chicane caught out a number of competitors and the field was tossed into disarray. Recuenco roundly held onto the lead till the flag, with Hahn and Albacete coming in second and third.
Kiss, Lenz, Mark Taylor, José Eduardo Rodrigues, Anderson, and Clemens Hecker rounded out the points.
