Saturday in Most Part 3 - Kursim wins Race 2

28. August 2021Most - The track continued to dry out, so that the day’s second race could start as it normally should. André Kursim in the Iveco outgunned polesitter Téo Calvet’s Buggyra on the sprint to the first corner and set himself comfortably in the lead.
Norbert Kiss, starting from P8, also gained a couple of positions, but as for the rest, the order remained unchanged. Kursim and Calvet headed up a train consisting of Janiec, Kiss, Halm, Albacete, and Lenz. Each lay in wait, hoping for a mistake by the pilot in front.
Kiss presently found a way past Janiec and set off in pursuit of Calvet. At around mid-race he’d sneaked past the Buggyra of the French youngster and was soon up on the rear of Kursim. On the final lap Kiss (by his own admission later) “stuck my nose” into a gap he thought he saw, elbowing erstwhile teammate Kursim aside to seize the lead.
The top three were followed across the line by Janiec, Halm, Albacete, Lenz, Lacko, Brereton, and Jochen Hahn.
But Norbi’s move had consequences – the stewards slapped him with a 10 second penalty, which handed the win back to Kursim and dropped him to P3 behind Calvet, who picked up his second Goodyear Cup win of the weekend.
