Saturday in Most Part 3 - One-two for Buggyra, Steffi steps up

29. August 2015Most - The blazing sun was now merciless over Most. The temperature had risen well above 30°C, the asphalt was simmering at 50°, and there was heated action on the track as well.
Not long after the start, polesitter Vršecký let Steffi Halm next to him take the lead. The way the young German took the twice European champion from the Czech Republic by surprise and bulldozed ahead was impressive any way you look at it.
While everything continued to run smoothly at the front, there were frictions a few places behind. There were pilots who maintained that those behind them in the formation had moved ahead too soon. At any event, trucks you’d never expect to had dropped places.
Halm was initially able to pull out a gap, though a podium place was still a long slog ahead. Lacko meanwhile had slowly worked his way back to the front, with Kiss in tow. The second half of the top quartet from the first race, Albacete and Hahn, seemed to be hanging back. Sandwiched between these two blocs were Körber and Reinert.
Halfway through, Steffi was still steering the direction of the race, followed by Vršecký and Lacko. Reinert was fourth at this point, making for a Buggyra burger between two Reinert race trucks - after all, even Halm’s truck belongs to Reinert Racing. But Vršecký and Lacko weren’t interested in being the beef in a Reinert sandwich, and soon enough they were launching a combined assault on the lady in front. In the event Halm had to let both overtake her, one after the other. Her truck and Vršecký’s touched, and in the process a chassis part was pressed into a tyre with the result that it started to lose pressure.
Kiss meanwhile had overtaken Körber and Reinert and was now right up behind Steffi Halm’s stricken truck, but Steffi wasn’t giving in and finished third by three-tenths.
Reinert was fifth ahead of Albacete, Körber, Hahn, Vojtíšek, and Lohr.
Buggyra (Vršecký / Lacko) was the winning team, with Reinert Adventure (Hahn / Reinert) and Oxxo-Lion (Kiss / Janiec) first and second runners-up.
Kiss now has 349 points in the championship, followed by Lacko (275), Hahn (245), Vršecký (221), Albacete (207), and Reinert (137).
