Friday in Zolder

21. September 2012Zolder - The 9th round of the FIA European Truckracing Championship in Zolder, Belgium, does not start until tomorrow, but today the paddock was already filled with people. Some drivers from Lotus practiced intensively and at the same time seminars took place – including the “Eco Truck Driving” – and in the small paddock more and more teams started to gather. In the morning it was only 6 C°, but in the course of the day the temperatures went up to 20 C°. The forecast for tomorrow is good, but on Sunday there is a slight chance of rain. The ones who did not have to work enjoyed the wonderful weather and the great environment at Circuit Zolder today. This weekend truckracing fans will get a lot to see, even if Alex Lvov has cancelled his attendance in the races of the FIA ETRC. The Russian and his Czech teammate Frankie Vojtisek had a PR appearance at the Moscow Raceway and did just as many laps with their MAN race truck as on a normal race weekend. Technical problems, which occurred there, could not be fixed in such a short period of time because they still had to go on a long trip through half of Europe. The manager of the team, Krzysztof Kubitza, stated that it was still worth it. He added that the race track is wonderful and perfect for truck racing and that the people had been thrilled by it. Other than that, the group of the FIA drivers in Zolder is complete and in the races for Promotion Truck Racing Holland, former truck racers like the Swede Mikael Johansson and Heinz-Werner Lenz (GER), will be at the starting line. The German driver is a three-time European Champion. The truckracing fans will get their money worth.
