Le Mans preliminary report
27. September 2024Le Mans - The next major highlight of the European truck racing season is upon us – the 24h Camions at Circuit Bugatti in Le Mans.
This year the historic circuit on the Sarthe is going to feature rounds of both, the Championnat de France Camions and the British Truck Racing Championship, in addition to the races of the ETRC. More truck racing action over one weekend than we can remember.
But there’ll be lots to experience off the track too – like the legendary Truck Grand Prix on the Nürburgring, the 24h Camions is an exuberant celebration of everyone and everything connected with trucks and transportation. The trade exhibition on the infield is traditionally one of the largest in the business, and the fans can also surfeit on showtrucks and live music.
A week after the 24h Camions is the season finale at the Circuito del Jarama in Spain. Norbert Kiss could wrap up his sixth title at Le Mans, but Jochen Hahn’s strong resurgence in Most suggests it might take the Hungarian several more laps before he equals his German rival’s title record.
The MAN-on-MAN battle for P3 between Sascha Lenz and Antonio Albacete will be more closely contested, and three drivers remain in pursuit of the Chrome title – José Eduardo Rodrigues, Mark Taylor, and tankpool24 pilot Steffen Faas.
Five guest drivers this weekend could have a say in the outcomes – Lukas Hahn, Stefan Kursch, Bradley Smith, Craig Reid, and Simon Faulkner will make the grid at Le Mans the largest we’ve had in a few seasons.
It’s been raining cats and monkeys in Le Mans this week, but clear skies are forecast for all of Saturday and Sunday.
