Norbert Kiss wins first two races of the season
26. May 2024Misano - Reigning quintuple champion Norbert Kiss won both races Saturday at the Misano World Circuit.
Starting Race 1 from pole position, the Hungarian took the lead in the first corner, followed by Jochen Hahn and Sascha Lenz. The victor in the Chrome category was José Eduardo Rodrigues, ahead of Clemens Hecker and Steffen Faas.
The start sprint of the next race saw Rodrigues’s MAN in the Lion Truck Racing livery collide with the braking MAN of Sascha Lenz in front, lift off, and land with its front crash guard hooked into the rear guard of the SL Trucksport machine – bringing the race to an immediate halt.
While the Portuguese was out, Lenz was able to restart from the end of the field after a lightning replacement of his rear crash guard (his team found no other damage).
A lively scrap developed at the front between André Kursim and Steffi Halm in their Ivecos. But Norbert Kiss and Jochen Hahn presently overtook them both to clinch P1 and P2, followed by Lenz, who’d clawed his way all the way up from the rear.
Tankpool24 pilot Steffen Faas took victory in the Chrome category, ahead of John Newell and Clemens Hecker.
