Saturday in Jarama Part 2 - Norbi leads from lights to flag

02. October 2021Jarama - Sascha Lenz got away somewhat faster at the lights and was a nose ahead of Norbert Kiss going into the first corner. The Hungarian, though, had the advantage of the inside line and so was able to make it through in the lead. Lenz was followed by Jochen Hahn and Antonio Albacete, who had got a jump on Adam Lacko. There was lots of butting of heads down in midfield, Clemens Hecker’s MAN being the biggest casualty with a punctured tyre.
Front MAN Kiss and marque-mate Lenz began to run away from the rest of the pack, going on to finish the race a relatively comfortable first and second, some seven seconds apart at the flag.
For several laps Albacete tried to challenge Hahn for third place, without success. Over the last four laps the Iveco pilot was able to build up a cushion of five seconds over the home hero, who by now was busied fending off the advances of a resurgent Lacko.
The Czech was followed home by an Iveco trio of André Kursim, René Reinert, and Steffi Halm (who earned pole position for Race 2).
Anthony Janiec and Shane Brereton rounded out the Top 10. The Brit took the Goodyear Cup win, ahead of José Rodrigues and Steffen Faas.
Team Titan was the top-scoring pairing, followed by Löwenpower and „die Bullen von Iveco“.
