Saturday in Le Mans Part 2 - Jochen Hahn wins Race 1

25. September 2021Le Mans - Shortly past noon, when the trucks lined up on the grid for Race 1, the Iveco of Jochen Hahn was waved onto pole position, with the MAN of Antonio Albacete up alongside. Norbert Kiss had been demoted by three places for blocking a competitor in the Super Pole, and would start from P4.
Hahn was able to pull ahead of Albacete after the first couple of corners, but the three trucks behind him put on a thrilling fight for the two remaining podium places – all 11 laps of the race. Kiss managed to get the better of Lenz on Lap 1 itself, and proceeded to chase Albacete down all the way to the flag. The Hungarian, in turn, couldn’t afford to make a single mistake as Lenz, who was clocked lapping faster than the three trucks ahead of him, was soon giving him some of his own treatment.
But since neither the Spaniard nor the Hungarian would be forced into an error the driver behind could capitalise on, they three crossed the finish line separated by less than a second.
Lacko, Brereton, Anderson, Faas, Garrett, and Kursim completed the Top 10. This meant Steffen Faas will start Race 2 on pole. The tankpool24 pilot in the superbly detailed Scania followed Shane Brereton and Jamie Anderson onto the Goodyear Cup podium.
Team Titan topped the team classification, ahead of „Die Bullen von Iveco“ and Team Löwenpower.
