Sunday in Zolder Part 1 – Norbi nails pole with fastest lap of the weekend

12. September 2021Zolder - Radiant sunshine greeted the few early risers in the paddock Sunday. Some of the teams had worked through the night – three trucks needed their engines changed, – and those were particularly relieved that warm-up here in Zolder only starts at 10 am.
It was the usual suspects at the top of the times, Hungarian Norbert Kiss leading the lot with a 1:57.424, above his MAN colleagues Sascha Lenz and Antonio Albacete.
It was warm-up time for fighting fit Brit Jamie Anderson’s mechanics thereafter, his truck having suffered a broken spring. Half an hour later, the crack crew had the MAN in black-and-blue back out on track with the 15 other trucks for Q2.
Kiss clocked 1:57.024 on his first lap, with Jochen Hahn, Adam Lacko, André Kursim, Antonio Albacete, Sascha Lenz, Téo Calvet, René Reinert, Steffi Halm, and Shane Brereton slotting in below him for the Super Pole.
The Hungarian went on to unleash a red-hot 1:56.119, the quickest lap so far this weekend. Hahn (Iveco), who lines up alongside on the front row of the Race 3 grid, was more than three quarters of a second slower.
Lacko and Lenz will start on the second row, with Albacete and Kursim, Halm and Calvet, and Brereton and Reinert on the three subsequent rows.
