Friday in Le Mans

27. September 2019Le Mans - Most of the teams arrived at Circuit Bugatti on Wednesday. The paddock was up early Thursday, and since then everyone’s been twiddling their thumbs. The last five rounds of the FIA European Truck Racing Championship have all been three-day events, and we’d had gotten into the swing of free practice on Friday, plus the press rides and the odd city parade.
There was none of that in Le Mans, not for the FIA entries at any rate. The pilots of the Championnat de France Camions were the ones who drove representatives of the media and sponsors’ guests around the track, and the Lotus sportscars from a supporting series got to do their training laps.
Even if it didn’t rain today (in contrast to yesterday evening), the overcast sky and bone-chilling breeze weren’t conducive to a pleasurable day off.
Most teams will head from here directly for Madrid, and arrive at the circuit on Wednesday. But also there, the action will only start next Saturday. The forecasts all bespeak bright sunshine and temperatures between 25° and 30°C. Something to look forward to, certainly.
