Sunday at the Slovakia Ring Part 3 – Albacete wins Race 4

07. July 2019Slovakiaring - It was the best weather for racing we’ve seen this year. On the first row of the grid stood polesitter Lenz on the inside, with his Löwen Power teammate Albacete alongside. Lenz made the better getaway, but a few hundred metres down the road Albacete had his nose ahead. The two MAN pilots exited the first (right-hand) bend side by side, and continued that way till the next curve, a more sweeping right-hander. Lenz had the inside line, but the Spaniard carried more momentum out onto the ensuing straight and thus pulled ahead of his teammate.
Right behind the Löwen Power MANs lay Iveco pilot Kursim, but the young German was done in by a blown tyre on the second lap. The two leaders pulled out a small gap on the rest of the field, with only Mercedes pilot Kiss now still within striking distance. Behind him came a quintet consisting of Lacko, Halm, Reinert, Hahn, and Anderson that started to spread apart as the race wore on. While Halm set to attacking Lacko, Hahn stayed put, refusing to take a risk for the sake of just one point more.
By now it looked like the race was settled. Albacete was able to loose himself from the toils of his two pursuers, Kiss having succeeded in reeling Lenz in and subjecting him to some severe pressure. On the antepenultimate lap came a harder attack and the Hungarian was ahead.
There was no denying Albacete the victory, and Kiss too was now secure in P2, but Lenz was set upon by Lacko on the final lap and only salvaged P3 by 13 hundredths.
Halm came in fifth, ahead of Reinert, Hahn, and Anderson, Recuenco, and Janes. Anderson was the Grammer Truck Cup winner for the second time today, ahead of Recuenco and Janes.
Löwen Power (Albacete / Lenz) was the top-scoring team, followed by Buggyra Racing (Janes / Lacko) and „Die Bullen von Iveco Magirus“ (Hahn / Steffi Halm).
Hahn continues to lead the drivers’ standings with 144 points. Halm (103) is now second, followed by Kiss (95), Lacko (90), Albacete (88), Reinert (80), Lenz (73), and Kursim (46).
