Sunday in Misano Part 3 - Second win of the weekend for Hahn

26. May 2019Misano - The rain had got itself in check in time for the start of Race 4 in front of 40,300 spectators. The track had also dried out in parts, so there was no need for any extra laps behind the pace truck.
Polesitter José Rodrigues initially held on to his lead. Lenz not only won the start sprint against teammate Albacete, but also proceeded to overtake Janiec and latch on to the Portuguese leader’s crash guard. But one mistake further down the opening lap not only lost Rodrigues the lead but, indeed, pitched him way down the order into P14.
Race 3 winner Norbert Kiss was harder-hit. A collision at the start caused the tankpool24 pilot to retire with a broken spring.
Hahn meanwhile had passed Janiec and Lenz, and the race soon began to look like the earlier one, only with different protagonists in the front. Hahn, Lenz, and Janiec pulled away from the pack and carried on unmolested all the way to the flag.
The fight for P4 was altogether less tidy. Albacete lay in fourth, and his quicker pursuers could do little to get past. But Lacko, whose Buggyra at the end showed all the evidence of a near-fatal encounter, came bounding up from P7. He first dispatched Kursim, who was forced to retire soon after. Three laps later Halm fell victim to the Czech’s inexorable advance, and a lap later Albacete too was receding in his rear-view mirrors. In the closing laps the MAN appeared to run out of steam, allowing Halm not only to overtake but also to pull away. The Spaniard eventually had to make do with P6.
Reinert finished 7th, ahead of Rodrigues, who had battled his way back into the points after his faux pas on the first lap. The two remaining places in the points went to Anderson and Janes.
Tankpool24’s rookie pilot Fabio Citignola (GER) narrowly missed out on his first point with a P11 finish on his first weekend. Instead, he picked up third place in the Grammer Truck Cup ranking behind Anderson and Janes.
„Die Bullen von Iveco Magirus“ (Hahn / Steffi Halm) beat Löwen Power (Albacete / Lenz) and Buggyra International (Janes / Lacko) in the team classification.
Lacko leads the field out of Round 1 with 44 points, followed by Hahn (42), Kiss and Albacete (both 34), Reinert (28), and Halm and Lenz (both 24).
