25 race trucks in England and 30 in France

25. April 2019The 2019 FIA European Truck Racing Championship is still open for registrations, but the national championships in Great Britain and France have already attracted huge participant interest.
The truck racing season on the Isles kicked off over Easter weekend. There the competition is divided into two classes. Division 1 more or less corresponds to the ETRC in its regulations. Nine trucks took the start – among them German MAN pilot Clemens Hecker and Dutch long-timer Cees Zandbergen, two guests from the Dutch Truck Racing series.
Division 2, in which the trucks are of somewhat simpler specification, and mostly of older vintage, had a solid 16 trucks. There were guest racers here too, from the Netherlands and Finland.
On the relatively short Brands Hatch circuit, with laps of around a minute, there were separate races for the trucks of the two divisions. In the Championnat de France Camions, however, all trucks line up on a single grid, as they do in the ETRC. Two of those will be piloted by young lady racers, Jennifer Janiec and Laurine Orsini. With 30 trucks in the fray, it’s going to get quite crowded on the track. It is possible, though, that all 30 won’t race at every event – though you can be sure they’ll all be at the 24h Camions in Le Mans.
Registrations for the FIA ETRC close at the end of this week, and the entry list will be up here on www.truckracing.de / www.truckrace.info as soon as the FIA releases it.
