Sunday in Nogaro Part 2 – Clear win for Jochen Hahn

12. June 2016Nogaro - The weathermen were spot-on, there was no rain, and so Sunday’s first race passed off peacefully and without incident.
The most significant happening had passed - MB Motorsport announcing that the damage to Norbert Kiss’s Mercedes could not be repaired with the resources available at the circuit, and indeed in such a short time. And so there were only 10 trucks on the grid.
Polesitter Lacko ceded his advantage to a hard-charging Hahn at the start, and the German went on to win the race unchallenged thereafter. In fact the finishing order was the same as the order at the end of the first lap. Everyone seemed to be hoping for the man or woman ahead to make an error - or suffer some failure.
But that Kleinnagelvoort would be whammed by a broken brake disc was something nobody had imagined, least of all the Scania pilot himself. A few laps before the finish it hit the Dutchman out of the blue in a 90° curve, sending the Scania flying at full tilt into the barriers.
And so Kleinnagelvoort couldn’t even enjoy the consolation of one point for 10th place.
On the other hand there was great joy in Team Hahn Racing, Jochen’s win taking him just one point shy of championship leader Lacko. The Czech took five fewer points for his second place.
Third place on the podium went to Reinert ahead of Halm, Janiec, Lohr, Lenz, Rodrigues, Forman, and Kleinnagelvoort.
With his 8th-place finish Rodrigues will once again start on pole for the concluding race of the weekend.
Reinert Adventure (Hahn / Reinert) was the top team, followed by Buggyra International (Lacko / Forman) and WOW! Women On Wheels (Lohr / Halm).
