Sunday in Misano Part 2 – Lacko makes it three on the trot

29. May 2016Misano - At noonday the first raindrops started to fall, first hesitatingly, then ever more steadily as the trucks started to roll out into formation on the grid for Sunday’s first race with a half-hour delay.
Twenty minutes later, as soon as the formation lap was flagged off, the sun began to peek through the cloud. But the rain continued to fall.
Race control decided to order two formation laps followed by one race lap under yellow flags, i.e. with overtaking forbidden. When the overtaking restriction was finally lifted, Lacko and Hahn pulled away from the rest of the field forthwith. The two stars were in another orbit altogether. The Czech was always a bit ahead of Hahn, and while the German was every bit as quick, he just didn’t seem able to muster up that wee bit of extra pace to overtake. That’s the way they finished too, Lacko leading Hahn home for his third consecutive win this Misano weekend.
Kiss had moved past Steffi Halm into 3rd place and steadily pulled ahead while the MAN pilotess was beating back her pursuers Janiec, Lenz, Robineau, and Körber. And even though Janiec managed to reel him in towards the close, he was in no danger of losing 3rd place - indeed, the first ETRC podium for the tankpool24 team.
After Janiec had overtaken Halm – the Frenchman was as much at home here in the difficult conditions as in Spielberg, – the pressure from Lenz, Robineau, and Körber wasn’t so intense anymore, the three being preoccupied with one another. And when Reinert, Steffi Halm’s Reinert Racing boss, joined the three-way battle between her pursuers, there was simply no taking Halm’s 5th place away.
Reinert had had to start the race from the rear of the field after the breakage of his steering column in qualifying. Lap after lap the German fought his way up to finish a creditable 6th. Körber and Lenz finished 7th and 8th, which meant pole for the younger German on the final start grid of the weekend.
Robineau and MAN pilot Frankie Vojtíšek (CZE) were the two remaining finishers in the points.
Buggyra International (Lacko / Forman) and Reinert Adventure (Hahn / Reinert) shared the top team score ahead of Lion Truckracing-Lenz (Janiec / Lenz) and tankpool24 (Kiss / Kursim).
