Saturday at the Hungaroring Part 2 – Norbi rejoices a nation

05. September 2015Hungaroring - The sun was still obscured as the trucks rolled onto the grid for the first race, but the track surface had dried out completely. The fastest laps in the race were once again under 2:20s.
That Kiss would stamp his supremacy on the 7th round of the FIA ETRC was to be expected, but what this is turning out to be is a veritable Kiss-fest. The paddock is crammed to capacity, the vast majority of fans sporting Oxxo t-shirts. All you hear everywhere is chants of “Norbi, Norbi.”
Kiss didn’t dare disappoint his countrymen. The polesitter took the lead at the start and stretched it out to an 8-second chasm at the flag.
Every time he tore past the stands the exuberant fans erupted.
Lacko had slotted in behind him, and drove unchallenged to a second-place finish ahead of Hahn. At the start the German was stuck in the Albacete’s toils, till the Spaniard’s engine decided it wouldn’t take him till the end of the first lap.
Vršecký finished in his now familiar fourth place, and fifth went to Reinert.
For several laps the Lusatian had battled Vojtíšek, failing at every tactic he threw at the clearly slower Czech ahead of him. When Reinert finally broke through, he went on to pull out a 12-second lead over Vojtíšek, who was set upon forthwith by Janiec and Lohr. At the finish the Czech managed to hold onto sixth by a one-second margin.
Janiec for his part was just a hair’s breadth ahead of Lohr at the flag. For the German, eighth place means pole for today’s second race.
The last two finishers in the points were the two Germans Steffi Halm and Sascha Lenz (both MAN).
Despite splendid drives in the wet, tankpool24 Mercedes pilots André Kursim and Roland Rehfeld finished out of the points, as did Dutchman Kleinnagelvoort.
Oxxo-Lion (Kiss / Janiec) was the winning team, with Buggyra (Vršecký / Lacko) and Reinert Adventure (Hahn / Reinert) first and second runners-up.
