Sunday in Spielberg Part 2 –Kiss, Kiss, Kiss

17. May 2015Spielberg - A third win in three races and another clear start-to-flag domination by defending champ Norbert Kiss — his Oxxo team surely couldn’t have reckoned with the outcome beforehand. At the moment there’s nobody in sight who can challenge the Hungarian hotshot for the 2015 title.
Everything was settled at the start. Kiss took the lead and pulled out a gap over his pursuers that he held till the flag. His win was significantly more convincing than the 3-second advantage over Lacko and Hahn suggests. Fact is, the race was decided at the end of the first lap itself — the top 10 finishers at the end of 20 laps crossed the line in exactly the same order in which they’d completed the first.
Vršecký, we suspect, now has a season ticket to fourth place, but what surprised somewhat was Körber’s fifth-place finish ahead of Albacete. Things just don’t appear to be going well with the Spaniard thrice-champ. Reinert took seventh place uncontested. But eighth, and with it pole for the last race of the weekend, was fought for unrelentingly between Janiec and Lohr. Both drove for one team last season, remember, but the Frenchman was brooking no recognition of the fact that Lohr is the only lady in the field. In the end, he managed to salvage his pole by not quite three-tenths. The final point went to home hero Altenstrasser.
At the prizegiving for the teams it was once again Buggyra (Vršecký / Lacko) on the top step of the podium with Team Oxxo-Lion (Kiss / Janiec) and Reinert Adventure (Hahn / Reinert) second and third.
