Saturday in Nogaro Part 2 - Albacete wins Race 1

21. June 2014Nogaro - With his fluent victory in the first race of the day, Albacete now tops the championship with a four-points lead over Kiss. The Spaniard got off to the better start, deciding the outcome then and there. Over the next 12 laps it never really looked like the Hungarian would mount a challenge — in fact, with temperatures in the ambient hovering around 33°C (the track was simmering at 59°), Albacete’s otherwise feisty pursuers seemed sapped of all aggression. At the finish Hahn trailed the leading duo at a respectable distance, followed at a truck’s length respectively by Bösiger, Lacko, and Vršecký. Major and Reinert sparred for seventh, the Hungarian crossing the line a half-second ahead, leaving Reinert the consolation of being on pole for the following race. MAN driver Anthony Janiec (FRA) finished ninth, ahead of Vojtíšek.
