Sunday in Navarra Part 3 - Hahn wins final race

08. June 2014Los Arcos - The temperature had long climbed above 30°C when the final race of the weekend on the Circuito de Navarra started, and the track surface was measured at 57°. Every little breeze, however lukewarm, was welcome.
In the cabs of the race trucks it was very much hotter, but the drivers kept their cool — none was willing to risk a dangerous manoeuvre.
Polesitter Major didn’t enjoy his lead for long. First Vršecký got ahead of him, and then the Hungarian youngster was progressively demoted just like Reinert, who’d started alongside.
Vršecký continued to lead for a while and looked all set to take his third victory of the season. But then the Buggyra pilot, braking into one of the sharp corners, drifted a wee bit too wide and Hahn took his chance to slot in and overtake. Kiss, not far behind, took his cue and, a little later, hustled past the Czech in like manner. Hahn meanwhile was so far out ahead that a challenge was out of the question. Albacete had to satisfy himself with fourth place, which he’d captured from his teammate Bösiger shortly before the finish. Major eventually finished sixth, ahead of Lacko, Reinert, Mariezcurrena, and J. Rodrigues.
At 1800 hrs a new result was announced, in which (among other things) J. Rodrigues was disqualified, and so the final point went to his teammate Teodosio.
Kiss (87) now leads the overall standings by one point from Albacete, followed by Hahn (69), Lacko and Bösiger (both 63), and Vršecký (62).
The same three teams were on the podium as in the earlier race, only in a different order — Oxxo ahead of Bernau and Reinert.
