Saturday in Jarama – part 2

06. October 2012Jarama - At the start of the first race of the day, those drivers were in bad luck, who drove on that part of the race track that was still covered in oil from when Vrsecky’s truck had started to leak during the timed practice. At least that was the opinion that Markus Bösiger had.
Albacete passed Bösiger and Oestreich on the inner lane without any problems and stayed right behind pole setter Hahn. Lacheze also passed Lacko and Bösiger, who had been ahead of him in the starting grid. Then Janiec passed Lacko and the first seven ranks were taken. In exactly the same order and right after another, the drivers drove over the finish line. The fight over the 8th place, which is also the pole for the second race, was more dramatic. Kiss was constantly under attack from his MAN brand mates, Reinert and Mariezcurrena, but was able to defend his position until he placed 8th in the end. After that Mariezcurrena received a 30-second penalty due to overspeeding and fell back on the 16th rank and instead of the Spaniard the Fin Mika Mäkinen (MAN) won the last point for the 10th place. The only female racer in the truckracing business, Ellen Lohr (GER), experienced an unpleasant surprise in the starting grid. After the timed practice she had still been on place 19 and now she was at the very end of the group of 30. Her tankpool24-Mercedes had been a little bit too fast and all of her times had been cancelled - but no one from the MB-Motorsport-Team had known about this. In the course of the race, Ellen Lohr was able to catch up and race to the front lap by lap and in the end she placed 17th.
In the second race of the day, Norbert Kiss was going to benefit from his relentless fight for the 8th place. At the start he did not let others steal away the lead from him and his neighbor Lacko even had to relinquish his position to Janiec at one point. When Lacko was finally able to pass the Frenchman again, Kiss was so much ahead of him that the Czech had to try to catch up a little bit each lap. In the meantime Hahn had come as far as the 3rd rank and Albacete was finally able to pass Bösiger and then also Oestreich, while his fans were cheering for him. This was the end of it and no one was able to get further ahead. Kiss was able to celebrate his second win of the season, ahead of Lacko and Hahn. Behind Albacete Oestreich and Bösiger placed 5th and 6th. The remaining points went to Janiec, Lacheze, Reinert and Vrsecky. In the overall rating Hahn was able to extend his lead and now has 458 point followed by Albacete (433), Lacko (287), Oestreich (284), Vrsecky (245) and Bösiger (229).
