2012 – Comeback in Austria?

2012 – Comeback in Austria?

22. July 2012While the Truck Grand Prix is taking place at Nürburgring, we learned that there is a new and very serious applicant for the FIA European Truckracing Championship.
Even if the applicant is new, the race track is not new to the truckracers. During the European Championship in the 80’s there have been races there and the last time they raced there was in 2003. At that time the race track still had the name A1 – Ring, but now it is called Red Bull Ring.
The new operators of the old Austrian Formula 1 track have already filed an application, saying that they would like to host a race of the FIA ETRC in August of next year. The route of the race track stayed exactly the same, but everything else has been renewed.
Not only has the track surface been renewed, but also several buildings. The odds are certainly not against the Austrians, but the question is if there will be 12 races or if 1 or 2 races will be crossed off the calendar again. The original goal was to have 10 races in 10 countries.
