Sunday in Jarama – part 1

10. June 2012Jarama - As the same with the last couple of days, the weather was great and there were only a few clouds in the sky. The faces of officials looked the opposite and a little bit sad, because the race result, which the race commissioners signed after a long session was incorrect, they claimed. So, there was a new official list of results: The Spaniard Antonio Albacete (MAN) was awarded back his victory, but then had to move back two places for the first race within the gird after the SuperPole. A little later another correction was made: Due to a collision during the last race with his Spanish colleague, Javier Mariezcurrena, the MAN driver René Reinert (GER) incurred a drive-through penalty, which then was amended into a 30 - second penalty. However, they probably miscalculated the 30 - second penalty, and in the end Reinert moved ahead to place number 10 which is the last point. After that there was finally time to watch the race. At nine o’ clock the warm-up session started and the “favorites to win”, MAN driver Jochen Han (GER) and Albacete, dominated again. Right behind them were MKR – Renault driver Adam Lacko (CZE) and Markus Oestreich (GER).It took Markus Bösiger (SUI), in fact, 5 seconds longer and he placed 13th in the end. In the timed practice they had to come clean for the first time, and that’s when Bösiger unsheathed and caught up on Albacete, Hahn and Oestreich and placed 4th. Buggyra driver David Vrsecky (CZE), the Frenchman Dominique Lacheze (MAN), Lacko and Mika Mäkinen (FIN), Norbert Kiss (HUN) and Reinert (all MAN) were added to the list of the top ten of the Super Pole. It started to become very serious for the top drivers in the SuperPole: While almost every driver was able to improve, Albacete was not able to improve his time that he drove in the timed practice. That is why he only managed to place 3rd with Hahn and Oestreich ahead of him. Because the Spaniard incurred two place penalties, he will start from the 5th place in the grid, behind Lacko and Bösiger. The further starting order for the first race on Sunday is as follows: Vrsecky, Mäkinen, Lacheze and Reinert.
