Saturday in Misano – part 1

19. May 2012Misano - This morning the temperatures were below 10 C°, but due to a clear sky they suddenly soared to 25 C°. The paddock started to fill up with people just as fast, because this was the main entertainment area. There are no support races of other series, because even guests from tuttoTrasporti drove laps in their test trucks during the breaks. That was also when the stunt men of the Italian police showed their performance. During the free practice Jochen Hahn showed once again what special position he is currently having. Only his Spanish colleague Antonio Albacete (also MAN) seemed to be able to compete with him. The three MKR – Renault drivers Adam Lacko (CZE), Markus Bösiger (SUI) and Markus Oestreich (GER) were a few seconds or more behind him. In the second free practice the French Dominique Lacheze (MAN) was able to catch up. Apart from that we all had to wait for the results of the timed practice. In this case Albacete was almost the first one before Hahn, Oestreich, Lacheze and Bösiger. The other top ten places for the SuperPole were won by Anthony Janiec (FRA) in his Renault truck, the Czech David Vrsecky (Buggyra Freightliner) and Gerd Köber (GER) in the Iveco and the Fin Mika Mäkinen (MAN). However, in the SuperPole which is crucial for the grid Hahn was able to turn the tables and easily won the first place. Behind the Polesetter and Albacete were Oestreich and Bösiger in the second row. Vrsecky, Janiec, Lacko, Mäkinen and Körber had the following starting positions. Lacheze had bad luck, because the French already had a flat tire at the beginning of the practice and his MAN slowly rolled into the pit lane.
