Truck Racing Calendar 2012

Truck Racing Calendar 2012

17. October 2011In our report „Most – This and That“, dated September 1, the provisional race timetable for the 2012 season was presented for the first time, and this schedule is still valid after the most recent meeting of the truck racing commission in Le Mans – but the dates are still pending.
According to the schedule the truck racers will meet in Misano on 19/20 May and two weeks later – 2/3 June – in Albacete. After a three-week break it’s going to be rather stressful for all people involved in truck racing. Nogaro: June 22 – 24 / Donington: June 30 – July 1 / Nürburgring: July 13 – 15 / Smolensk: July 27 – 29. This means 4 rounds in a time period of 5 weeks and travelling criss-cross through Europe, going from south to north, from west to east.
After a five-week break the next venue on the agenda will be Most on 1/2 September. And afterwards – just like this season, too – the schedule will again become rather tight; 3 rounds in a time period of 3 weeks: Zolder: 22 – 23 September, Jarama: 6 – 7 October, and the final round in Le Mans on 13 and 14 October.
This means 10 rounds in eight countries, but the maxim the FIA European Truck Racing Championship is aiming at is 10 rounds in 10 countries, so that they are open-minded about interested parties from other countries. And it looks as though there will also be a round being held in Istanbul in 2012. The exact date was not yet determined, but most probably the opening round of next season will take place in the Republic of Turkey, either one week or two weeks before the event in Misano – so that there would be 11 rounds in 9 countries.
But apparently some more enquiries from other interested parties were received, so that as from 2013 there may also be journeys to Hungary or Austria on the agenda of the truck racers.
