Two more Weeks

Two more Weeks

08. July 2010There are only two more weeks till the start of the jubilee Truck Grand Prix.
The fans are eagerly awaiting this event and the expectations run high. We have already reported about the (one-time???) comeback of „Mr. Truck Racing“ in a private Iveco as well as the other privately run German team that is going to have their debut at the Ring. For a start, the Mercedes Benz enthusiasts around the experienced truck racing strategist Markus Bauer with the Silberpfeil (Silver Arrow) RaceTruck and also the Iveco Team will proceed true to the Olympic motto: taking part is everything. And obviously the fans want to take part, too – there weren’t so many inquiries in a long time. As usual, the advantage package – combined with a co-pilot feeling while sitting in a RaceTruck – was already sold out at Christmas time. The Mercedes grand stand is sold out, too, but for all the other categories, even for the legendary T4, there are still tickets available.
And it will be worthwhile.
Those people who, during the past few days, have been reading about or watching on video the skirmish between Hans-Joachim Stuck and DTM pilot Timo Scheider, can easily imagine that those two top pilots will fight a “duel” at the Ring. Back in 2001, there was a similar fight – featuring the two Mercedes pilots Roland Rehfeld and Bernd Schneider; the one in a SuperRaceTruck and the other in a DTM AMG – a race that was narrowly won by Schneider after the AMG’s restrictor had been demounted, whereas that device had been left in he SuperRaceTruck. Now it seems that MAN pilot Stuck wants to restore the honour of the truck racers by winning against Audi pilot Scheider.
On Friday and Saturday there will again be a top class music festival in the Müllenbach Loop with BossHoss, Gunter Gabriel, Tom Astor, Truck Stop, Silverwood, to name but a few. And for those who still feel like celebrating after the show, there is the Roadhouse party tent – for open-ended entertainment. And, not to forget, the splendid fireworks display on Saturday night.
But not only the fans are excited, the industry and the manufacturers are also drawn to the TGP at the Ring. It’s always the varied mixture that makes the TGP so special: motor sports at its finest, a great trucker festival and a commercial vehicles fair; the latter being almost like the IAA in Hanover – only with a lot more fun.
For all those who cannot make it to the Ring, the WebPortal „truckracing.de / truckrace.info“, same as in the last 3 years, will provide a video live streaming via the WorldWideWeb – showing all the races of the RaceTrucks – together with even more partners, and also on their respective internet sites, giving even more fans the chance to watch the races live on-screen. Furthermore there will again be a TGP special where all the results, news and other things that might be of interest will be published on this WebPortal and also on the website of the Truck Grand Prix. But all those people who have the opportunity to come to the Eifel should do so, because the real live-feeling can only be experienced directly on site.
