Friday in Misano

21. May 2010Misano - In the morning there was light intermittent rain, but towards noon the sun came out at last. However, the current forecasts for the weekend are no longer as bright as they seemed to be a few days ago. But in the paddock people found it a lot more interesting that Buggyra had appointed a second driver after all – Stuart Oliver. Initially the 2004 European Truck Racing Champion had only registered for the British Championship; all the more surprising it was for the teams in Misano to hear the news. But here in Misano the Englishman cannot participate in the races, as the late registration has not been approved yet by all the teams and drivers so far. But, beginning with the round in Albacete, the second event of this season, Oliver is going to attend all the races of the ETRC series. Apart from that, there were several eye-catchers, especially the impressive Renault presentation as well as the huge inflatable archways serving as shelter for the two trucks of Team Allgäuer. And of course the MAN Power Station – the ‘Glass Palace’ – is also present in Misano. The focus is totally on truck racing, as there are no other series in the supporting programme, but instead the presentations of the Commercial Vehicle Industry are the largest for the first time in a long time. And not to forget the traditional parade of extraordinarily beautiful trucks. All these attractions will make the breaks between the races pass in a blur.
