Summary of the TGP Video Live Streaming

12. August 2009With a total of 177,000 visitors flocking to the TGP at the Ring the number of spectators was almost as large as last year. Compared to the decline of visitors other motorsport series suffer at present and the concerns voiced early this year, this was a raving success; the more so as many truck racing fans – for whom in July a week at the Ring in a tent, motor home or caravan is meanwhile a ‘compulsory’ exercise – were at a loss what to do as, due to the changes in the course of the extensive construction works their ‘everlasting’ allotted spaces were no longer available. So they decided to stay at home and to content themselves with watching the video live streaming.
This year it was the second time that the live coverage of the TGP, a special service the ADAC Mittelrhein provides for the fans at the Ring on giant video screens, was available on the internet worldwide. 30,804 visitors in all have been viewing the video, and, thanks to the new digimago server technology all of them were provided with constant high-level quality, and none of the users had to put up with a poorer image quality or even a complete failure due to overload.
And indeed, the TGP proved once more that the internet is becoming more and more important in the media and information sector – particularly also in the FIA Truck European Truck Racing Championship, because the number of visitors on the WebPortal "truckracing.de / truckrace.info" – regardless of the live streaming – were skyrocketing, too.
Already on Friday, July 24, we counted 96,751 page impressions, on Saturday they amounted to 138,856, and with 221,558 PI on Sunday for the first time the margin of 200,000 for a single day was exceeded. But all this was topped on Monday following the TGP with 273,264 PI.
And in July the web portal counted 2.152.558 PI, for the first time exceeding the 2 million margin within one month.
This means that "truckracing.de / truckrace.info" is at present on the same level with the web portal "formel1.de", the most popular internet site concerning the top tier of motorsports in the German language.
However, neither live streaming and internet nor TV don’t even come close to the real live-feeling of being directly on the spot – particularly in truck racing with its open paddocks, and nowhere else the pilots are that close to their fans. And that’s why we can safely assume that next year at the TGP there will again be about 200,000 fans on the grand stands, in the paddock and the Müllenbach Loop.
We would like to thank all those people who, with their commitment, made it possible for as to install the video live streaming 2009:
