Markus Bösiger will join in again

12. March 2009In fact nobody had any serious doubts about it, but now it’s official, Markus Bösiger is going to participate in the coming season, too. The Swiss, who was champion of the European Championship 2007 and runner-up in 2008, definitely signed a new contract with Buggyra yesterday. After doing some tests in Most, the “home track” of the Czech truck racing team – just 90 kilometres away from the Buggyra race truck business in Roudnice – Bösiger came to the following conclusion: “Everything worked fine and according to plan – except for the weather.” The entrepreneur from Langenthal – and convinced Swiss – will do his utmost to win the cup for Switzerland once more, despite his great occupational commitment.
The 51-year-old Bösiger can look back on an impressive motorsports career. First he was very successful in the world championships for sidecars, and in 1999 he switched to truck racing. In 2001 he and his colleague Fritz Kreutzpointer (both MAN) fought a gripping duel right to the final, which Bösiger lost by a hair’s breadth. The following year – his last season – Bösiger joint the Deutsche Post Team. But SuperRaceTrucks were past their best at that time, and the Swiss also retired from truck racing and applied himself more to his entrepreneurial activity. But it’s an old truism that somebody who once became infected with the truck racing bacillus, will hardly ever get away from it.
That’s why, in 2005, Bösiger suddenly sat in the cockpit of the Atkins RaceTruck and straight away moved up to fifth in the overall ranking. One year later he was pilot in his own racing team before he joined the Buggyra Team in 2007. And both Bösiger and his RaceTruck constructor Mario Kress intend to replicate their success of the past two years.
