Racing Dates 2009

24. October 2008During the last few days we got several requests as to the racing dates for 2009, and sometimes it was pointed out that elsewhere these dates were already published. As far as we know, those are provisional dates proposed to the FIA World Sport Council by the Truck Racing Committee, and the council has yet to confirm the dates. Up till now they are not official.
According to the proposal there would again be nine rounds, but instead of Barcelona the season would start in Assen / Netherlands at the beginning of May. The last time there was a round of the Truck Racing Championship in Assen was exactly 4 years ago. Then the races are scheduled on a bi-weekly basis for Misano, Albacete and Nogaro. After that there will be a 5-week break. Because right at the traditional date for the truckers at the TGP on the Ring, the second weekend in July, the Eifel circuit will be occupied by the Formula 1 next year. And as the F1 tross will not have cleared the paddock by Monday, but on the other hand the staff responsible for the erection of the equipment for the exhibition area and the industrial estate for the Truck Grand Prix, has to commence operations on Monday at the very latest, the TGP will probably not take place until the fourth weekend in July.
On the end of August we would go to Most, and after Zolder and Le Mans we would again be in Jarama for the final – the first weekend in October, as usual.
Those are the provisional dates – but nothing is definite yet.
Afterwards it became known that perhaps there will be a 10th round in Barcelona between the races in Nogaro and the TGP on the Nürburgring. Furthermore there are substantial changes of the racing regulations under discussion. But all this has yet to be decided and confirmed by the FIA.
