Friday in Most

24. August 2007Most - Hardly anybody said it candidly, but the surprise of this weekend was the announcement of Team Hahn Racing, that – after 11 years of cooperation with Mercedes Benz – they will have to reorientate themselves for the coming season. The Stuttgart company had officially informed the team recently, that, as for European truck racing, they decided to hold their commitment in abeyance for the time being. Whether this will effect the further commitments of the other manufacturers – and if so, in what way – we’ll have to wait and see. At least, MAN and Renault have only just in principle declared their commitment to truck racing, and quite a few people are expecting Volkswagen to engage in the FIA European Truck Racing Championship sooner or later.
The team less impressed by all this is certainly Buggyra. Totally independent of any manufacturers, the Czechs with their Freightliners are at present the bee’s knees in truck racing. And so it’s not much of a surprise that at first Markus Bösiger and at the second free practice David Vrsecky marked best times.
There is an additional race-by-race pilot who registered just now, veteran truck racer Maurice Monfrino, but in spite of his immense truck racing experience it’s unlikely that he will be among the first ten pilots with his quite unusual Renault Sisu.
Today it was already quite sunny, but for tomorrow – Saturday – the weather forecast promised intense heat. And a hot pursuit we will probably see on the track tomorrow. Considering the fierce battles where many a marker was clipped – even a rabbit came near being run over – a lot of gripping actions may be expected.
