Truck Grand Prix 2007

Truck Grand Prix 2007

01. July 2007As always, the Truck Grand Prix on the Nürburgring will be the yearly highlight of the truck racing scene – ditto for the FIA European Truck Racing Championship, because, contrary to last year, the pilots can again earn points here. There is a mutual consent with the FIA. And if the weather is decent there could be a crowd of about 200,000 again. Although the tickets for some categories are already sold out – especially for the grand stand where year in year out the same truck racing enthusiasts meet – but for those who decide on the spur of the moment to go to the Ring, it will still be possible to get tickets at the box office.
There is no doubt that it is worthwhile to come to the Nürburgring. Besides the races of the FIA European Truck Racing Championship there will also be the races of the Mittelrhein Cup. And there will be a fierce competition, too, because the points earned there, will be added to the ranking list of the British Championship, which means a busy weekend for Chris Levett and Stuart Oliver, cause they will enter not only the FIA races, but also the Mittelrhein Cup. The icing on the cake will certainly be the King of the Ring, Heinz-Werner Lenz and his son Sascha, who is well on his way to becoming the “Prince of the Ring”. And, as is almost tradition by now, there will also be a true-born prince, Prince “Poldi” Leopold von Bayern, whose performances at the TGP very often made quite a splash
Aside from the trucks, there will also be Formula 3 race cars, and, in addition, the Renault Clio. But there is a lot more than merely motor sports. The TGP is also a show and exhibition, especially for the commercial vehicle industry and, all-important for the fans, there is a music festival. And so several bands with different styles of music will not only play in the paddock and the industrial park, but also in the Müllenbachschleife where there will be a lively rave-up on Friday and Saturday night. Apart from the traditional German country music bands, such as Tom Astor and Truck Stop, last year’s triumphant band, The BossHoss, from Berlin, will wow the fans.
For all those who cannot come to the Ring, a TGP Special will be provided on this page – in co-operation with the ADAC Mittelrhein. Same as last year, the commentaries from the circuit, by Jörg Hennig and Hans-Joachim Ebertz, will be transmitted live as audio streaming on the internet. In addition, not only the official lists showing the results will be on the net close to realtime, but also brief press releases by the ADAC Mittelrhein will be available on this special page besides the usual photographs and reports on the Web Portal “www.truckracing.de / truckrace.info”. This will certainly become another significant step in the history of this portal, which in June reached a new top rate with 1,329.548 page views, and which for the first time exceeded the 10-million-mark with 10,143,004 page views for the last 12 months.
