Conejero with new Engine and new Sponsor

09. March 2007In 2003 Antonio Conejero, quite an institution at truck racing, was tenth in the ranking with a total of 85 points on his Mercedes Benz which was already a bit past its prime at that time. But when, in 2004, he fell back on 17th position with only 5 points, the little Spaniard, who always has a smile on his face, came to the conclusion that he had to get a new RaceTruck. After a long wait and a lot of trouble – with many side-trips and detours – Conejero got his new Iveco from Brazil. But what followed was a time of despair. The glaring red, flashy truck attracted attention at every event, but it did not run. The team worked on it at the circuits, often for nights on end, but the results of the last two years had a sobering effect: 0 points. But now the period of suffering seems to be over.
Conejero will start the 2007 season with a new look, a new engine and a new lead sponsor. The truck is now painted navy blue and has got a Caterpillar C-12 engine from the RaceTruck manufacturer Buggyra. These engines were the basis of Gerd Körber’s and David Vrsecky’s successful race series for the last two years, and also Ross Garrett had such an engine in his Foden.
But Conejero has also got a new lead sponsor and, with Dukic Day Dream, is fully in line with today’s trend. This Italian company specializes in auxiliary equipment for internal-combustion engines and heatings. The manufacturer not only promises a considerable reduction of fuel consumption and, at the same time, an efficiency increase of up to 20 percent, but first of all a reduction of pollutant emissions of up to 90 percent. With regards to the current discussions about the climate change these facts certainly come in handy. Next Sunday the new RaceTruck will be presented to the public with a great show at the Italian Adriatic.
