Annual Meeting of the H. W. Lenz Fan Club

Annual Meeting of the H. W. Lenz Fan Club

22. January 2007Even though Heinz-Werner Lenz – who was European truck racing champion several times – is not exactly in a top position at the moment, his fans are still top-notch. Especially the Lenz Fan Club from the pastoral Eifel village Auw always put their shoulders to the wheel for years. Not only at the Truck-Grand-Prix on the Ring, but also at numerous other races some members of the club – clad in their eye catching orange coloured T-shirts – are always at the scene to cheer their idol. And even in the off-season these some 100 club members are very active. In mid-January they again organized their annual meeting – assisted by several friends from the surrounding region. And of course right in the middle of it: Heinz-Werner Lenz with his family and team.
Certainly it’s difficult to top last year’s spectacular atmosphere, when the THW and the fire fighters had to work hard to free some streets from deep snow before Lenz could drive some laps in his RaceTruck between heaps of snow left and right. But this year, too, there were lots of people from Auw and the neighbouring villages gathering along the streets in the evening hours and watching Heinz-Werner Lenz on the Iveco RaceTruck and his son Sascha on the Brazil Mercedes Hauber doing some spectacular laps for more than one hour and a half on a cordoned off mini race track, illuminated by flood light. And again there were some lucky guys who had the pleasure to enjoy genuine race feeling by sitting in the co-pilot seat.
There is no doubt that this year at the Truck-Grand-Prix the fan club will again give Heinz-Werner and Sascha Lenz their full support. But they intend to go to other race events, such as Zolder, as well.
