Saturday in Jarama - Norbert Kiss wins both races, Jochen Hahn takes second spot in the championship

01. October 2023Jarama - Norbert Kiss won both races on a seemingly interminable Saturday at Circuito del Jarama. His closest rival Jochen Hahn secured second place in the overall standings with P3 and P7 finishes.
The Race 2 podium was celebrated at 19:30 after a series of long interruptions because of red flag incidents through the day.
Free Practice 2 saw Sascha Lenz crash spectacularly into a barrier with a technical problem and the recovery of his truck took the better part of an hour. But the SL Trucksport 30 team was able to return the MAN to raceworthiness in record time, allowing Sascha to go back out in qualifying.
Kiss continued his unbroken polewinning record in 2023, Antonio Albacete and Hahn coming closest for P2 and P3 on the grid.
The red flags came out after a crash in the first corner right after the lights turned green. Steffi Halm and José Eduardo Rodrigues found their trucks entangled, and a couple of corners down the road Jamie Anderson and Steffen Faas came together.
The restart was eventless, Kiss surging ahead to take another win ahead of Albacete and Hahn. Lenz, Halm, José Rodrigues, André Kursim, Luis Recuenco, Clemens Hecker, and José Eduardo all finished in the points.
Recuenco led the field away from pole in Race 2, Kursim having started alongside on the first row. Over the initial laps the two Iveco pilots put on an entertaining fight for first place before Recuenco dropped back.
Kiss made his way up the field as only he can, to take another superb victory. Kursim and Halm joined him on the podium. They were followed home by Lenz, José Rodrigues, Recuenco, Hahn, Albacete, Anderson, and José Eduardo.
