Sunday in Zolder Part 3 - Kiss wraps it up with win in final race

12. September 2021Zolder - On the front row of the grid for Race 4 were the two contenders for the Goodyear Cup, Shane Brereton and Téo Calvet. The British MAN pilot led the field out of the first corner, leaving Calvet with his hands full trying to keep Norbert Kiss, who’d stormed up from P5, behind him. But before the end of the lap the Hungarian had overtaken both of them, and went on thence to lap in the lead alone till the flag.
René Reinert in an Iveco was forced to withdraw with a punctured tyre on the opening lap itself following a run-in with the MAN of Luke Garrett.
Starting from P7, Adam Lacko followed Kiss up the field to finish a secure second, but the battle for P3 behind him was fought all the way to the flag.
Sascha Lenz, who’d started from P9, chased Calvet and Brereton lap after dogged lap, but the German could find no way past the Brit, nor the two an opportunity to overtake the Frenchman, and that’s the order in which they crossed the line, spread by a little over a second.
Iveco pilot Jochen Hahn closed in on Lenz in the closing laps, but simply ran out of road. He was trailed home by Steffi Halm, André Kursim, Antonio Albacete, and Steffen Faas.
Calvet made it a clean sweep in the Goodyear Cup, winning from Brereton and Faas.
Buggyra Racing was the top-placed team, followed by Team Titan and „Die Bullen von Iveco“.
