Saturday in Most Part 2 – Kiss barely beats Lenz to the line

28. August 2021Most - The rain-caused chaos in the Super Pole gave way to glorious sunshine – but the showers soon returned. It wasn’t raining at the start of Race 1, but the track remained very wet and gripless and the stewards ordained a yellow-flag first lap with no overtaking allowed.
When this restriction was lifted at the start of Lap 2, polesitter Kiss was already several trucklengths ahead of Jochen Hahn, who had Lenz right up behind him. Not long later the MAN from Weißenthurm made an impetuous move on the Iveco and, having squeezed ahead, set off in pursuit of Kiss.
For several laps thereafter a fight for P3 raged between a motley crew consisting of Hahn, Albacete, Lacko, and Janiec. After Hahn began to slow, only to drop out anon with mechanical problems on his truck, the battle was reduced to a contest between Lacko and Albacete, the Czech eventually claiming the spoils.
At the front of the field Lenz kept reeling Kiss in. But the German simply ran out of road, crossing the finish just 0.6 seconds behind the Hungarian.
Halm came home fifth, followed by Janiec, Kursim, Calvet, Brereton, and Reinert.
His P8 finish put up-and-coming Téo Calvet on pole for Race 2, but also gave him the victory in the Goodyear Cup ahead of British MAN pilots Brereton und Anderson.
