Registrations for the 2021 season now open

22. December 2020Effective immediately, the truck racers may register as full-season entrants for the FIA European Truck Racing Championship 2021. On 23 April, four weeks to the day before the start of the first race weekend of the new season as set out in the regulations, the first ever four-month registration period will close. (Hitherto the FIA has allowed registrations for the various competitions it administers to start only in January, but after this bizarre year, it’s determined to signal its eagerness to get back to business.)
The year gone by has been an extremely difficult one for the local organisers and the circuits, with often no clarity about whether racing would be permitted in the first place, and if so, whether spectators would be allowed in. Truck racing is, after all, first and foremost a spectator motorsport – next in popularity only to Formula 1. And the fans are, as we can well imagine, dying for live action and the inimitable atmosphere of the truck race weekends.
Setting the scene for large spectator events next year will be the (postponed) UEFA Euro2020 kicking off in Rome on 11 June and the Tokyo Olympics from 23 July.
