Tests in Nogaro

19. July 2020Last week the Lion Truck Racing Team organised three days of tests at Circuit Paul Armagnac in Nogaro and invited all interested teams to join in. The circuit in Nogaro has been off the FIA European Truck Racing Championship calendar for three years now, and in 2020 will only host one round of the Championnat de France Camions.
A handful of teams from the ETRC were joined by different teams from the French championship on different days. Anthony Janiec in the Lion MAN was there of course – he hadn’t been able to make it to Most a fortnight earlier. The Anglo-Bavarian T Sport Bernau squad with Antonio Albacete had their first outing together as a team, and Antonio’s MAN colleague and compatriot Luis Recuenco jumped in as well.
Buggyra was there in full strength, with Czechs Adam Lacko and Aliyyah Koloc, and recent recruit Teó Calvet (FRA). The Don´t Touch Racing Iveco team with André Kursim made the trip from Germany – surprisingly, considering that Kursim last raced here back in 2014, in a tankpool24 Mercedes. (His present team didn’t exist at the time.)
Buggyra isn’t concentrated on the ETRC alone; as far as possible, they’d like Aliyyah and Téo to do all the French races as well. The Czech team is sparing no opportunity for Aliyyah, daughter of team boss Martin Koloc, to train and familiarise herself with the French circuits – she has also tested at the Circuit d’Albi, also in the south of the country.
Téo knows these tracks in and out; this is, after all, going to be his third full season in the French series, but he too is using every chance available to get up to speed in his Freightliner.
It was the first time back in the cockpit for Janiec, Albacete, and Recuenco this year, when nothing is any more as it should be.
