Norbert Kiss wins opening round of ETRC Digital Challenge, Sascha Lenz is runner-up

25. May 2020COVID-19 and all its consequences have brought the FIA Truck Racing Championship, like it has every motorsport event across Europe, to a complete standstill. In order to keep the fans’ interest alive in the months till the delayed season kicks off, the organisers have come up with digital races for the ETRC pilots with cyber representations of their 2020 trucks on a professional sim racing platform.
The first round, at a virtual Hungaroring last Sunday, had 11 participants.
Norbert Kiss won both races with an impressive display of sim racecraft. The Hungarian ace began his motorsport career in the world of simulators, and the passion continues unabated.
His fiercest rival was the irrepressible young champion-in-the-making from Weißenthurm, Sascha Lenz, who finished in P2 and P3.
Frenchmen Anthony Janiec and Téo Calvet took a podium place each.
The second round at the virtual Misano World Circuit is on June 7.
