Iveco presents the new S-Way race trucks

17. May 2020On Saturday, Iveco officially presented the new Hahn Racing and Schwabentruck race trucks with the S-Way cab to sponsors and representatives of the media at its test oval in Ulm.
The invited group was kept small in accordance with current COVID-19 regulations, but the presentation was also streamed live on Iveco Deutschland’s Facebook page. Sextuple champ Jochen Hahn and Steffi Halm, who continues to race for the Schwabentruck Racing team now owned by Hahn, were on hand to talk about the 2020 trucks and their hopes for this season, which they both admitted has turned out very differently from the way they’d have liked it to, a situation they’ve nevertheless now come to terms with.
Both emphasised how much they missed the racing, how eagerly they were looking forward to the first round at the Autodrom in Most at end-August, and that a curtailed season with six instead of eight rounds was still a far better situation than many other motor racing series find themselves facing.
To a question about what he’d improve on the trucks before the first race, Hahn replied that the goal in any event was to be as well-prepared as possible, and that tweaks on the new machines continue – but whether they translate into actual improvements will only be known when the trucks are tested under race conditions, which he hoped would happen before the first competition weekend.
