Truck Sport Bernau and T Sport Racing amalgamate - Antonio Albacete will race for the new team

13. March 2020In the coming season of the FIA European Truck Racing Championship there will be a new team on the grid: T Sport Bernau. A new team, well, in name only – because the protagonists are well known in Truck Racing.
The MAN of the T Sport Racing Team managed by Melanie Derflinger and Tim Frost scored points in the last three seasons of the FIA European Truck Racing Championship with Englishman Terry Gibbon at the wheel, and Lutz Bernau really needs no introduction here. The Bavarian, a twice-champ in his day, has been active in truck racing for more than 30 years now. He hung up his gloves in 2005, committing the Bernau MAN to Spaniard Antonio Albacete, who went on to win three titles with the team from Utting on the Ammersee.
The evergreen Albacete, runner-up in 2019, will race a newly built MAN for the team. Bernau and his long-time partner (and brother-in-law) Egmont “Egi” Bartmann – they’d competed together in the Paris–Dakar Rally before they got into truck racing –
will take on a supervisory role, providing technical and operational support to Tim Frost and Melanie Derflinger, who will manage operations.
