Sunday at the Slovakia Ring Part 2 - Another lights-to-flag win for Hahn

07. July 2019Slovakiaring - The official merging of the results of Q2 and the Super Pole, and the reinstatement of lap times cancelled for kissing corner markers, had no further effect on the composition of the grid. But the weather began to look interesting. As the trucks lined up, a blanket of dark clouds spread across the sky. Some of the teams worried about what looked like an inevitable heavy downpour; others prayed for that very eventuality. As things happened, nothing happened – Race 3 was run in perfect conditions. The temperature had dropped by a couple of degrees, a strong and rather uncomfortably chill wind arose, and the track was by now about as warm as your hand.
Polesitter Hahn led the field into and out of the first corner, and stayed in that position till the flag. It helped that Kiss, starting alongside, just couldn’t accelerate as quickly. He was overtaken by Reinert and Halm in rapid succession, and then by Lacko not very long after.
While Hahn disappeared into the distance, the quartet behind him engaged in a series of entertaining scraps, Lacko and Kiss in particular. There was no further change in the order, however, and the podium went to Hahn, Reinert, and Halm, all in Hahn-built Ivecos. Lacko came on strongly towards the finish, following Halm across the line by just 16 hundredths. He in turn had Kiss on his tail, the Hungarian waiting for his rival to make the slightest mistake he could capitalise on.
After an interval came a knot consisting of Kursim, Albacete, and Lenz. Their battle was fierce throughout. And though it looked like
Albacete and Lenz were faster, Kursim just wouldn’t let them pass.
With his P8 finish, Lenz secured pole position for the final race of the weekend. Anderson and Janes were the two other finishers in the points. Anderson won the Grammer Truck Cup race-within-a-race from Janes and Recuenco.
„Die Bullen von Iveco Magirus“ (Hahn / Steffi Halm) took the team victory, ahead of Buggyra Racing (Janes / Lacko) and Löwen Power (Albacete / Lenz).
