Sunday in Jarama Part 2 – Another win for the five-times champ Jochen Hahn

07. October 2018Jarama - Newly crowned champion Jochen Hahn wants nobody to be in any doubt that he is now the measure of all truck racing things. His performance in the Super Pole, and in Race 3, evidence an overwhelming superiority for which there is no example we, at least, can think of. The German seemed to want to toy with the rest of the field. In next to no time he had established a safe lead over Albacete, and towards the end slowed to let the home hero catch up, but then held him off by just over a second.
The rest of the field spread itself out over the first few laps, so that the only close encounters with contacts took place in the rear midfield, out of the points – and that mainly to entertain the enthusiastic fans.
The only incident was Kiss’s retirement on Lap 8, with a steering problem that was very probably a carryover from yesterday’s smash-up. The fans will surely have hoped for a duel for P3 between the Hungarian and Buggyra pilot Lacko. But Kiss’s elimination presented this position to the Czech on a platter. Lenz in P4 was too far behind to mount a challenge. His MAN colleague and teammate Reinert tailed him across the line, ahead of José Rodrigues and Steffi Halm.
Brereton in P8 takes pole for the final race of the season. The two remaining points-paying places went to Kursim and Brit Oly Janes (Buggyra Freightliner).
Brereton, winner of the inaugural Grammer Truck Cup, took the top step of the podium yet again in this championship-within-the-championship, with Janes and Terry Gibbon (MAN) first and second runners-up.
Team champion „Die Bullen von Iveco Magirus“ likewise won the team race, followed by Reinert Adventure (Lenz / Reinert) and Truck Sport Lutz Bernau (Albacete / Recuenco).
