Nine rounds on 2017 calendar

30. November 2016Today the FIA World Motor Sport Council (WMSC) in session in Vienna released the definitive 2017 calendar for the European Truck Racing Championship. There were no real surprises; the circus will make nine stops in nine countries.
The calendar first drawn up in August featured Nogaro (FRA) on the second weekend in July, and another round in August at an undeclared location. But it soon became clear that the organisers at Nogaro weren’t happy with the slot they’d been assigned, and when the FFSA published its calendar for the Coupe de France Camions with Nogaro on for 24 and 25 June, a week before the Truck Grand Prix on the Nürburgring (GER), it was certain that – after 16 successful years – there would be no FIA races in the south of France.
The weekend with the question marks was brought forward to July, and many already suspected it was going to be at the Slovakiaring (SVK), about 42 km east-southeast of Bratislava. Rounds four, five, and six will now take place in relatively close proximity - the Hungaroring (HUN) is only 184 km by road from the Slovakiaring, and from there to Autodrom Most the journey is 469 km.
Alongside is the detailed calendar.
We’ve mentioned only the respective Sundays; of course, the actual events run over two, or at some circuits, over three days. Some of the events have been listed pending confirmation of circuit homologation or confirmation by the respective national motorsport association. That, in our experience, is just a formality.
