Sunday in Most Part 2 - One-two for Buggyra

31. August 2014Most - The excitement over qualifying and the SuperPole notwithstanding, the “Pit Lane Open” sign went up right on time. Reinert’s and Halm’s MANs were now good to go. The trucks all lined up in orderly fashion, and it was time to start the formation lap when a couple of cleaning vehicles drove out onto the track, delaying the start by a good 15 minutes. The two Buggyras of Vršecký and Lacko were on the front row, followed by the MANs of Hahn and Bösiger. Kiss, who’d set the top time in the SuperPole, and Vojtíšek were relegated to the rear of the field as a consequence of their disqualification, and had only Reinert and Halm behind them.
Even though it wasn’t raining now, the race was started under a red-and-yellow-striped flag, a caution for a slippery track. The chicane immediately after the start, which had been the scene for so much action and excitement the day before, was yellow-flag territory, which meant absolutely no overtaking.
The race, accordingly, went off without incident. The lead Buggyras held their position throughout, and Hahn held back from any spectacular attacks. Bösiger was also uncharacteristically restrained, indeed allowing himself to be overtaken by Albacete shortly before the finish. Körber, meanwhile, drove a solitary race in sixth, with lots of room before and behind.
Only in midfield and somewhat further back was there any real racing worth the mention. Kiss had fought his way up to eighth, only to come up on Anthony Janiec (MAN) and find the Frenchman just wasn’t going to let him get ahead. On the other hand, eighth place meant pole position for the final race. The two final points places went to Rodrigues and Vojtíšek.
But then the technical delegate decided to have a closer look at Janiec’s MAN and found it too out of conformity with the ground clearance rule. The Frenchman was promptly disqualified, handing seventh to Kiss, pole for the concluding race to Rodrigues, and the final point to Reinert
Buggyra (Vršecký / Lacko) was obviously the top team, followed by Truck Sport Bernau (Albacete / Bösiger) and Reinert Adventure (Hahn / Reinert).
