Preliminary Report Jarama

03. October 2012This time it will be the second time in Jarama during this season, but this time everyone will meet for the traditional date on the first weekend of October. Everyone hopes that the atmosphere on the 10th race of the FIA European Truckracing Championship will be as great as always, because this is what the special flair of the race track Circuito del Jarama in the north of Spain’s capital constitutes of.
The race in June in Jarama was an alternative date for Albacete and this race had been cancelled due to the difficult economic situation in Spain. However, it does not seem like as if the situation has improved, but the race weekend in the FIA ETRC lives off of the engagement of the sponsors to a great extent. The biggest sponsor in Jarama is still Cepsa. The Spanish mineral oil company stated that they will be just as involved at Jarama as in the past years. Antonio Albacete (sponsored by Cepsa) will definitely need the support from his fans. The failure in Zolder has set him back in the battle between him and his brand mate Jochen Hahn in the Championship. Hahn has a different opinion. He thinks that such a technical problem could possibly also happen to him. There are 8 separate races left in which there can happen a lot and a driver can also still win 120 points. That is why an advantage of 19 points is not too much in this case.
The upcoming decision in the drivers championship has all the attention at this point in time, because the team ranking has already been decided and won by the MKR-Technology-Team. The head of MKR, Mario Kress, will mainly use the last races (such as the one in Zolder) to try out his new ideas regarding the technique of his Renaults for the upcoming year under race conditions.
A whopping 31 drivers have signed up for the race in Jarama, including the 20 trucks that had signed up for the whole championship. The race in Jarama also belongs to the Spanish Championship. That is why all the race-by-race drivers that have only signed up as those will be at the starting line. The amount of drivers will be a minor problem on the difficult race track with many curves and ups and downs than the significant difference in performance of the individual drivers. One race-by-race driver, Michal Matejovsky, will receive more attention than others, because he is the son of the Czech truckracing legend Stan Matejovsky. The young driver impressed everyone in Most, where he was as a guest driver in a Buggyra-Freightliner. So now everyone is really excited to see if he will be also under the top ten in Jarama.
