Sunday in Most – part 2

02. September 2012Most - 21 trucks went into the first race on Sunday. The tankpool24-Mercedes from Ellen Lohr (GER) had some technical problems, but she was not in the best condition either, because she had caught a virus. However, she participated in the warm-up session and also the timed practice – and she also would have joined the race. During the timed practice the race truck ran significantly worse than in the warm-up session and it became apparent that there was a problem with the engine. This, however, could not be fixed right then and there. Due to this reason the MB-Motorsport-Team decided to not further participate in any other race in Most.
A total number of 80,000 spectators saw the start of the first race.
Polesetter Hahn had the lead from the very beginning of the race and defended this position until the end. At the same time, Bösiger was struggling to defend his 2nd position against Albacete, who was constantly attacking him. Until the 6th lap this seemed to work fine, but then Albacete benefitted from a little mistake that the Swiss made and passed him immediately. Other than that the chase group, whose leaders were Oestreich and Lacko, followed the leading group in the same order they had started into the race – sometimes even bumper on bumper. Mäkinen did not make it into the top ten; the Frenchman Anthony Janiec (Renault) received the last place behind Kiss. Vrsecky finally placed 6th ahead of Lacheze and Körber. The end came a little bit abrupt after this. In the long curve before the finish straight, Orsini had crashed into the tire pile during the 5th lap. The orange Renault then ended up in the run-off area and stopping the race would not have been a surprise at this point. However, the race continued. During the 9th lap the red flags were being waved due to this accident and this was all the more surprising. Körber placed 8th and therefore won the pole position for the last race.
The drivers had – compared to other second races of the day - a surprisingly decent start into the second race of the day. Körber had taken the lead right from the start and was followed by Lacheze, Vrsecky, Oestreich, Lacko, Bösiger, Albacete and Hahn. This was pretty much identical with the starting order, except Oese had moved up one position. After the third lap the red flags were being waved again. The reason was rather unspectacular: The Foden from Quiret had another turbo burst and ended up in a bad position. Around half an hour later there was a restart in the order the trucks had passed the finish line in the previous lap. And just in that lap Vrsecky had passed Lacheze. So from the beginning of the second part of the race, the Czech stuck to the bumper from Körber’s Iveco. The Buggyra was simply faster. The German had to let the Czech pass him and concentrate on not being attacked by Oestreich and Albacete, who were following him. Until two laps before the finish of the race Körber was able to defend his position against his two rivals, but then he had to surrender. Then Bösiger and Hahn were on his tail, who were actually a little bit faster too. In the end Körber was only one tenth faster than the Swiss and three tenth ahead of Hahn. Lacko, Kiss, MAN driver René Reinert (GER) and Lacheze followed. But as always when we have two-part races we only know what the results are when the partial results are being added together. Due to the fact that Körber passed the finish line 3 seconds ahead of Albacete in the first race the man from the Schwabentruck-Team placed 3rd in the end, behind Vrsecky and Oestreich. Lacheze also benefitted from his excellent placing in the first part. The Frenchman placed 8th behind Lacko and ahead of Kiss. On top of that they announced the very last result at around 8 at night. In line with “Stewards Dec. No. 2 “ Reinert was disqualified. Therefore the Russian, Alexander Lvov (MAN) received the German’s placing and placed 10th. Due to the fact that he cannot accumulate any more points – as often explained on truckracing.de/truckrace.info – Jean-Pierre Blaise received the last point. In the drivers’ Championship Hahn is again leading with 378 points followed by Albacete (377), Oestreich (235), Lacko (232), Vrsecky (224) and Bösiger (191). In the first race Pneu Bösiger-Team 14 won the team ranking ahead of MKR-Technology and Blaise/Bouzige Truck Racing. In the second race both teams switched places.
