Truckracing Community is grieving about Hendrik Vieth

05. July 2012The race driver Hendrik Vieth from Filsum, Germany, was killed in an accident while driving with his motorcycle yesterday night. A car driver took his right off on L 30 near Papenburg. The paramedics tried to resuscitate him, but they were not successful. The 31 - year old died of his injuries at the scene of the accident. He was a race driver to the core. The engineer also worked as a test driver in the test center in Papenburg.
The East Friesian was part of several race series, but he had his biggest successes with the mini-challenge. In the year 2010 he was at the starting line in two races of the FIA Truckracing Championship. He was an all-rounder and drove the trucks (5.5 tons) with 1,000 PS just as terrific as the almost difficile Minis with 200 PS. Vieth repeatedly mentioned how much fun he has with truck racing, but a complete racing season in the FIA ETRC, which the MB-Motorsport-Team drove with the tankpool24-Mercedes starting in 2011, did not work out due to his professional obligations. Despite the fact that he was only part of two race weekends of the FIA European Truckracing Championship, Hendrik Vieth made a lasting impression on all truck racers, as a really nice and fair, but also hard-fighting sportsman, who would never dodge a duel.
