Friday in Nogaro

22. June 2012Nogaro - A majority of the teams has been at Circuit Paul Armagnac in Nogaro, South France, since Wednesday and had to experience how a severe storm hit Gascony on Wednesday night. Since then the sun has been shining almost all the time. On Thursday the sun was literally burning and the temperatures went above 30 C°. Today, it was a bit cloudier and the thermometer stopped at 22 C°. The truck racers were happy about this change in the weather, because they had a long workday. At noon there were press drivings scheduled and an additional one-hour practice in the afternoon. Then shortly after another, the two free practices followed. As expected, the two MAN drivers in the championship Jochen Hahn (GER) and Antonio Albacete (ESP) were in the lead. It was all the more surprising to see that the Frenchman Dominique Lacheze (MAN) was able to outpace the MKR-Renaults (which are usually faster) from Markus Bösiger (SUI), Markus Oestreich (GER), Adam Lacko (CZE) as well as his compatriot David Vrsecky (Buggyra Freightliner). Lacheze attracted attention because of the new construction of his front spoiler.
Finally, all drivers had a photo shoot in their racing outfits in front of the TRO tent – except one. Contrary to the first entry list the Russian, Alexander Lvov, will not be at the starting line in Nogaro, as originally expected. He merely came as a spectator and joined the photo shoot in mufti. Frankie Oxxo Team announced that after the first races in Jarama some modifications and remodeling regarding the MAN trucks will be necessary. However, they added that due to time reasons they will only be able to make those modifications on the trucks that are currently being used by Frankie Vojtisek (CZE) and Norbert Kiss (HUN). The “East-Power-Team” will compete together for the first time at the Nürburgring, Germany.
