Friday in Jamara

08. June 2012Jarama - The sun is shining, the temperatures are above 25 C° and in Jamara, at the gates of Madrid, it is exactly as you would expect it to be in Spain at this time of the year. Yesterday that was still different. Severe storms made it difficult for some teams to put up their tents. The MKR – team decided to not put up any tent for the rest of the weekend. They were still disappointed about how the decision over the second race in Jamara came about. The visitors will certainly be confused, but if the weather stays that way the mechanics will not be bothered by it and wrapping it up on Sunday will go a lot faster. However, especially the MKR team has been working hard. As already reported, Mario Kress and his team had already started to try out various options for the set-ups right after the race in Misano even if they weren’t able to try all of the different possibilities. First of all, they measured the exact frame height today, because those can change depending on the different settings of the back and front axle. Regarding this issue MKR made some bad experiences in Le Mans last year, when Markus Bösiger (SUI) and Markus Oestreich (GER) were disqualified, because their race trucks were 5 mm too low.
Frankie OXXO Truck Racing Team does certainly not think about this yet. After the unexpected problems that occurred due to delays caused by suppliers regarding the buildup of the MAN race truck, two trucks are now finally ready to go. Today it was time to stick the necessary sponsor stickers on the trucks of Frankie Vojtisek (CZE) and Norbert Kiss (HUN). Alexander Lvov (RUS), the third driver of the team, will compete, for the first time, in the race in Nogaro.
Here in Jarama the Dutchman Erwin Kleinnagelvoort (Scania) will also be competing in the FIA ETRC for the first time this year. The Tankpool24-Mercedes from Ellen Lohr will not be in Jamara. As feared by the team manager, Markus Bauer, they weren’t able to fix the problem with the control unit, which already became apparent in Misano. It will also be the first race for the Spaniard Jose Bermejo (MAN) whose race truck obtained a new engine and that kept the mechanics from MAN busy for the rest of the day.
